The dock is not just a dock but a 112' foot pier, starting with a 4' wide walkway that widens to 6' at the end, stretching into a deep water channel, which is the best fishing spot on the island. I needed, and got, a special permit from the Lee County Commission to allow a pier that far off the shore. Beyond that distance is a 300 foot channel where casting couldn't be better. So take along a chair and enjoy your fishing. Once caught, the catch of the day (depending on the season) can be cleaned at your fish cleaning station, complete with fresh water piping, before bringing them in the house for the delight of some of the freshest fish you've ever tasted.

For others, this pleasure is found with a chair out on the dock where you have an unobstructed view of North Captiva Pass, the beaches, and beautiful shores of Cayo Costa Island, another wildlife sanctuary. This might be a perfect time to feed the pelicans, seagulls, and other wildlife. You can also experience the joy of watching pods of dolphins feed all around you, playing, and spouting like small whales. Remember, you are on the edge of the Safety Harbor Channel where they especially like to feed.

The pier is also a boater’s paradise. Last winter we had a 55' ocean going sailboat moor there for 3 months. When it is stormy, you can also utilize the wet slips at the Safety Harbor dock about 3-4 minutes from Seawatch. Within a short time we plan to have our electric power hoist available at our pier for boats up to about 28' depending on weight.

The pier is a place where members of your family can congregate for a multitude of pleasures connected to the sun and sea. So hurry and make your reservation for Sewatch, an enjoyable time you and yours will never forget.
